There is no one-size-fits-all formula for being a wonderful spouse. Every person, every marriage is different. But, there are some common issues that many married couples face, and today we will share 4 simple guidelines to help you become a better spouse.

#1 Show romance. What "being romantic" means varies widely from person to person, but at its core, romance involves doing something to express affection in a meaningful yet unexpected way. A true act of romance requires creativity and sincerity, often inspired by love (either its presence or its possibility).

#2 Display honest. In a mature relationship, honesty is the best policy. It may be difficult, but the truth will allow relationships to breathe. No matter what happens, no one can ever challenge the fact that you are truthful.

# 3 Consider situations logically. Quite often we react emotionally when confronted with a situation that upsets us. It's only natural. But, reacting purely out of emotion might not be the best course of action. In fact, more often than not, it might be one of the worst. Letís pause to consider the impact our words and actions might have before rushing forward, and give ourselves time to see if there might not be a better way to handle a situation than based on emotions alone.

#4 Be a good supporter. Be someone your spouse can always count on. Be there for each other after a long day. Listen to each other with attentive eyes and ears. If you have done something to one another, even if you didn't mean to, apologize and show affection. This must be sincere! There's nothing worse than an "I'm sorry" that is not sincere.
