    Default 184,000 Ghanaians are blind

WORRYING information from the country's health sector is that about 184,000 Ghanaians are suffering from preventable blindness, with a further 600,000 suffering from various forms of visual impairment.

Out of this figure, the common eye disease, cataract, which can easily be rectified with the right and timely surgical intervention, constitutes half of the cases, with only 15% of the population getting access to medical treatment.

NA WAA OOOOO..... THE COUNTRY HAS GONE DOWN....

This is very worrisome but who do you blame ? In this day and age,Ghana is still battling malaria, guinea worm infestations and a host of other preventable/curable diseases. Ghana has all the necessary know-how to eradicate these problems, from medical personnel to what have you, yet, the government will rather appeal for international funding for pet projects.

Highly trained Ghanaian doctors and nurses are under paid and so head out for greener pastures, hospitals are in disarray with no drugs nor adequate health care professionals to cater for the ever growing number of sick people who patronize these hospitals. Makes me wonder where it all went wrong ?
