    The Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Akua Sena Dansua, has on behalf of Government and the people of Ghana congratulated the athletes who won medals in the just ended 17th African Athletics championship held in Nairobi, Kenya, a release signed by the assistant Public Relations officer for Minister Ms Constance Adomaa Takyi has said

    The athletes are Margaret Simpson-Senya, who won Ghana’s only gold medal in the hepathlete event, while Aziz Zakari won silver in the men’s 100m race, as well as the male and female quartet team for winning bronze respectively.

    In a message to the Ghana Athletics Association, she praised the athletes for exhibiting courage, commitment and character during the competition, which lifted high the flag of Ghana.
    She further stated that the good performance of the Ghanaian athletics team is an indication that through proper planning sporting disciplines, apart from football, will also chalk successes in their international sporting competitions.

    In a separate message to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), the Hon Minister congratulated Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) for wining the World Professional Boxing Federation’s Light Heavy Weight title, Joshua Okine, and Albert Mensah for clinching the WPBF Welterweight and WPBF Super Light Weight titles respectively.

    Boss, the sports ministry is a joke. They neglect the "smaller" sports yet expecting success from the athletes. Shame on those corrupt fucks out there.

    Tell me about it boss. And they brand them 'lesser known sports' How ironic that they expect something from them. $400 for these athletes is not just a joke but an insult. It's like we don't really have any structure that work at the ministry. We said some 50 years ago that we have a long way to go but am telling u now that we have a longer way to go with our sports ministry.
