Default Culture Review: Naming in Ghana... Personal Names of Dagomba by M.E Kropp Dakubu

    Dagomba
    • A new born is named Sana for a girl
      • A new born is named Saando for a boy
      • Sana/Saando means stranger

Now the process of associating the baby with a personality or a particular ancestor can mean one of the following names is bestowed.
    • Female child
Balemimi(leave it for me), Balima(begging), Nakpambo, Sindoliwa and also Arab-associated names Adisa, Ramata, Salimata or Chentiwuni(leave it to God).

    • For the male child
Andani, Banzu, Napare, Naporo, Shagba, Yiri and also Arab associated names Gariba, Ziblim or Salisu

Now the Day names is complicated so i decided to import the page of the source.

all go to the same place ;all come from dust and to the dust all return. who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?
