Default Goran "Plavi" Stevanovic Presented to The Media

Ghana maintained tradition Wednesday with the official outdooring of Serbian Goran "Plavi" Stevanović as the new manager of the Black Stars.

He was presented to the media at the GFA Secretariat in Accra.

Plavi has been handed an initial 2-year (renewable) contract and will take 30,000 Euros monthly.

The 44-year-old follows the exploits of two compatriots, Ratomir Dujkovic and Milovan Rajevac, both leading the team to record its most glamorous history – two World Cup appearances capped with fairy-tale performances.

And Plavi, as Stevanović wants to be called by Ghanaian fans, says he is all set to motivate the ‘highly respected’ Black Stars to win trophies, playing an attacking game.

“Ghana is a very good team and I know that many coaches would love to be in my position today. That is why I want to take this exciting team further. I am aware that my job will not be easy… My biggest challenge in this role is to motivate the players to believe that they can do better…”

While congratulating his immediate predecessor for a good foundation and carrying the team to great heights, he said it is time the Stars’ prowess showed in trophies.

“It is now time for trophies. It has been 30 years since Ghana last won the African Cup of Nations. The Black Stars were third in 2008, second in 2010, it is time to be first again. We must play attacking and attacking football while being cautious in defence and I am sure we will achieve the results... I am here to build champions …and I’m certain that all of us want to be champions…”

Plavi called on all stakeholders – the GFA, government, media and fans to give him the best of support as he attempts to bring his vast experience to bear and make the “Black Stars shine even brighter”.

Let's see him back his words up with action. For now we all have to get into the "wait and see mode"
