Today, December 8, is expected to be a memorable day for Ghana’s immediate past President, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor, as he celebrates his 72nd birthday in his homeland, the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.

Reports available to the Chronicle newspaper indicate that the ex-President would be celebrating the birthday anniversary in style, as the occasion would also mark the official commissioning of his magnificent edifice, located at Parakuo Estates, a first class suburb of Kumasi. Details of the itinerary for the extraordinary function are scanty, but reports say the former President would be killing two birds with one stone, as he looks set to unveil his bravura Mansion, while at the same time treat his august visitors to a special birthday reception.

Eminent personalities from all walks of life are expected to grace the occasion. The Parakuo Estates houses important political figures in the country, including past ministers, and is a location where only the first class buildings are situated.

Ex-President Kufuor was born in Kumasi on December 8, 1938, and hails from Daaban, near Akropong, and Pasoro in the Atwima Nwabiagya District of the Ashanti Region. Both sides of Kufuor’s parentage come from distinguished families, whose members include Chiefs, farmers, timber merchants, businessmen, university professors, doctors, engineers, accountants, teachers, nurses, lawyers and politicians.
