Default D-Black The Ghana Bwouy Unleashed

D-Black may not be as popular a name as others in local showbiz circles but it sure has it's own fan base as it resonates very well with a huge army of young people.

It is a name that has also been associated with the more popular Kwaku-T of Big Brother Africa fame.

D-Black is a Ghanaian musician, a rapper, who cut his professional teeth singing along his buddy Kwaku-T when in December 2008 and July 2009 they released two major singles off the album Target Practice .

Their first single Move was nominated in the Best West African Category at the last Channel O Music Awards in South Africa while the second single Breathe ft. Jay So was also nominated at the 2010 Ghana Music Awards for Hip-Hop / Hiplife Song of the Year.

However, the video for Breathe ended up picking the award for video of the year at that same awards.

Come this Saturday D-Black would shed that skin of being identified all the time with his music doppelganger when he launches his first solo album.

After the launch the man named at birth as Desmond Kwesi Blackmore would have attained his own identity as D-Black The Ghana Bwouy.

The album titled Music, Love & Life would be launched in grand style on Saturday 25th September 2010 at the Cinderellas Night Club in Accra and it has been billed to be the biggest party at the club this year as some of the heavyweight Ghanaian and neighbouring socialites are expected to show up in support of D-Black The Ghana Bwouy.

The album launch party would also witness appearances and performances from some of the big name artistes featured on the album.

They include Sarkodie, Kwabena Kwabena, Ayigbe Edem, Samini, Reggie Rockstone, Dr. Cryme, Guru, Efya, Iwan, J-Town, The Skillonz, Kwaku-T, Sante, X.O Senavoe and many more.

The album itself features such heavyweights as 2Face Idibia from Nigeria, Buffalo Souljah from Zimbabwe and Wyclef Jean.

The man voted by MNet Africa as Africa’s Second Best Rapper for 2010 and Sixth Most Stylish Male Celebrity for 2010, says the 20-song album was written and recorded from his life’s experiences and the music he loves hence the album’s title Music , Love & Life.

“Music is the first love of my life and this album is music from my heart, mind and soul,” D-Black says. "I believe in African unity and collaborations so this album has a lot of collabo’s with artists from around the World, Africa and Ghana."

The artiste who classifies himself and his music style as purely hip-hop thinks he has a mission to fulfill for Ghanaian music.

"I want to be able to put Ghanaian hip-hop music on the continental and international platform so the whole of Africa and the world can appreciate and have access to the music we make out here in Ghana”, he declared.

Apart from being a musician D-Black is also a business man who runs his own marketing and advertising firm called Black Avenue Works.

He is also the C.E.O of Black Avenue Muzik which is an Independent record label and distribution outlet in Ghana with worldwide distribution
Having been appointed a United Nations (U.N) celebrity ambassador in Ghana in December 2009 for the cause of environmental degredation, D-Black collaborated with 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), J-town and Kwaku-T on the song Stop It.

It was a song that sought to promote the realization of the United Nations Millennium Developmental Goals which incude HIV/AIDS awareness, Poverty and Domestic Violence/Women Empowerment.

This song has been added to the D-Black Music, Love & Life album. The last quarter of this year seem to be a very busy one for D-Black and Kwaku-T as the two have been nominated for several awards both on the continent and outside.

They include 2010 Museke African Music Awards for Music Video of the Year – D-Black & Kwaku-T– Breathe, 2010 African Music Awards, London for Music Video of the Year – D-Black & Kwaku-T – Breathe, 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards, South Africa for Best HipHop – D-Black & Kwaku –T– Breathe, 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards, South Africa for Best Music Video – D-Black & Kwaku-T – Breathe, 2010 Sound City Music Awards , Nigeria – Best Collaboration – D-Black ft.
