Default TECNO Phones to assemble products in Ghana

One of the leading mobile phone distributors in Ghana, TECNO Ghana, says preparations are underway to assemble TECNO products in the country anytime soon.

The Retail Manager of TECNO Ghana, Mr. Sakah Ansah, who made the announcement, says TECHNO remains committed to meeting the growing demands of diverse mobile phone users across the country through the provision of robust and quality multi-purpose handsets.

Mr. Sakah Ansah said this at the opening of the Takoradi branch office of TECNO, bringing the Mobile Distributor's branch offices to six across the country. He noted that TECNO has a mission to make its products accessible to Ghanaians nationwide.

He stated that TECNO as at 2010 controlled about 33 percent market share in Ghana's mobile phone distribution industry, stressing that its newly launched products are expected to boost its market share.

“There is so much competition in the industry but TECNO has been able to maintain a market share of 33.33% as at 2010. And this is a great indication of TECNO's market performance in spite of stiff competition.

Mr. Ansah debunked the notion that TENO phones which are manufactured in china are of inferior quality, adding that TECNO phones will soon be assembled in the country to create jobs for the youth.

“Very soon, we will be assembling the products here because we have the necessary equipment that can consider some factors within the local content and we will come out with products that can suit the operating conditions of the Ghanaian market. Ghanaians have the perception that phones from China are of low quality but we at TECNO want to defuse this misconception looking at the quality of our phones and the average usage rate of the products. People do not complain so much about it because when we say its 2-gigabite memory or after sales service that is what it is. And because of this, people have trusted the brand which has become a household name” he said.

He said so far TECNO is providing over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs across the country, adding that plans to establish strong presence in all the regional, districts and municipal capitals in the country are on course.

According to him, TECNO offers affordable phones, all of which come with 13 months warranty.

The Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V who chaired the opening of the Takoradi office, called on companies to live up to their corporate social responsibilities to bring development to deprived communities.

He said the production or assembling of cell phones in Ghana must be improved, promising to offer a location within the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis to TECNO for the assembling of it products.

The Paramount Chief was presented with a 24 inch TECNO flat screen TV and a TECNO cell phone.
