Another tragedy has struck the make-believe industry in Ghana.

After the demise of Theatre mogul Efo Kojo Mawubge a couple of weeks ago, and with Ghanaians yet to dry their eyes from their tears, the nation has been hit with yet another piece of sad news.

Reliable information available to indicates that, actor and comedian Gilbert Karikari, popularly known as Baffour for his role in the hit TV series Kejetia, alongside Miliki Mi Cool and Koo Hia, is dead.

The unfortunate incident, according to reliable sources, occurred last Saturday, October 15, 2011. Co-actor, Seth Karikari, popularly known as Koo Fori, who confirmed this on Peace FMs Entertainment Review program, also disclosed that the deceased had been sick for over a year and was in Tafo, a town in the Eastern Region for treatment.

Koo Fori, who bears the same surname as the deceased, Karikari, said he returned to the country last week after a trip abroad, only to be hit by the news of his colleague actor's death.

According to him, he received a phone call on Saturday afternoon about the death of Baffour.

I called a family member for verification, and the person confirmed to me that indeed Baffour was dead, he said. investigations uncovered that Baffours wife who had spoken with the deceased on the morning of his death, was shocked to find his lifeless body lying in his bedroom, when she paid him a visit at Tafo, in the Eastern region.

"Later in the day, she had tried calling him but her repeated calls went unanswered," the source said.

On the morning of his sudden death, Baffour was said to have walked into the room of every tenant and expressed gratitude to them for the love and care shown him.

"Little did they know the talented actor was saying goodbye to life".

Gilbert Karikari is a Ghanaian actor whose claim to fame began when he played a lead role as Baffour in the local Television series Kejetia which used to shown on GTV every Sunday evening.

Kejetia also features actress Beatrice Chinery who played Miliki Me Cool and actor Ziggy Netteyson aka Don Ziggy who played Koo Hia. The late Baffour has also featured in several Ghanaian movies.

The family is yet to meet and decide on the date for the funeral final rites.
