    Default Computers and Health

The basics of good health and your computer habits.

Its not just work any more computers have taken over our leisure time too, thanks to email, internet shopping, social networking and online TV. This has opened up lots of fantastic opportunities for everyone, but is all this screen time affecting our health?

The good news is that there is no evidence that we or our families are doing ourselves any harm, as long as we take sensible steps.

Sitting properly, with a 90-degree elbow angle and a plenty of back support is one key step we can take to protect our muscles and joints from strain.

Its also important to say around 60cm away from the screen so that our eyes dont have to struggle to focus.

Take breaks every now and then when you can stretch your legs and rest your eyes the perfect excuse for a cup of tea.

One of the most common computer-related problems is repetitive strain injury and carpal tunnel syndrome, which are painful conditions caused by small, rapid movements typing or mouse-clicking over a long period of time, so try clenching and unclenching your fists a few times to help ease the stress on your hands and wrists.

Dont forget to blink! Dry eyes are a major cause of eye strain.

    Neo thanks for the post.

Its so easy to overlook some of these things and I am so sure I am one of those culprits. Siton the computer the whole day @ work taking one or two breaks or sometimes none because of work schedule........and then get home and back to the computer again to chit-chat, hook-up with friends, etc.........it just seems endless.
