Items retrieved from them included two locally-made pistols, a knife, talisman, four BB cartridges and four live gun cartridges. However, a houseboy to the white man, John, and Isifu, a recruiter, managed to escape arrest.

The suspects were intercepted by the police at Atomic Junction on Sunday September 2, 2011 while in a taxi cab heading towards the victimís house.

Briefing journalists on Tuesday, the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Rose Bio Atinga, together with ACP Christian T. Yohuno, the Deputy Regional Commander, said the suspects converged on Atomic Junction, ready to move to the victimís house to rob him.

Upon a tipoff, policemen were quickly dispatched to the area. The robbers, numbering five, picked a taxi to East Legon residence of the victim but the police immediately stopped and arrested them.

Further investigation by the police revealed that suspect John, now at large, tipped suspect Ali Mohammed that his master had brought a briefcase full of dollars to the house.

Suspect Ali Mohammed also contacted suspect Isifu to help him recruit the other suspects to carry out the plan. The agreement was that the booty would be shared equally after the operation.

Suspect Adamu was then contacted at Aflao, while Ali Ibrahim from Klagon was contacted together with Kofi Dodzi from Afienya and Umaro Ibrahim from Juapong to help embark on the operation.

They first met at Ashaiman to procure the weapons and then set out to carry out their operation.

Luck however eluded them when police got a tipoff and arrested them while they were on their way to East Legon.
