A farmer nearly killed his wife when he attempted to butcher a colleague farmer having an affair with her in the dark. He thought it was the man who was on top of the woman but it was rather the opposite.

Yaw Addo, 34, the farmer was said to have spotted his wife, Afua Dankwa, 29, and her boyfriend, Kofi Bobie, 36, having an affair in a classroom. As the place as very dark he was not able to see who was on top of the other.

And, bubbling with fury, Bobie sneaked into the classroom and slashed the person on top several times with the cutlass only to realize that it was his wife rather. In the process, Addo managed to escape unhurt.
The incident took place at Manso Abodom in the Amansie West District of Ashanti last Saturday, September 17, 2011.

A family member of the woman, Charles Yamoah Asiedu, told this Paper that Bobie and Addo, both farmers, lived in the same vicinity.
He said Addo used to stay on his palm plantation for some days especially when he would be distilling palm wine.

The family member alleged that during such periods, Bobie would lure the woman and have sex with her.

He said someone informed Addo that his wife and Bobie used to meet in the Manso Abodom Primary School.

On the day of the incident, Addo was said to have returned from the farm at about 7:30 pm, after spending three days. But, the wife was not aware he would return that day, and was therefore not at home.
Addo, he said, got wind that the wife had gone to meet Bobie in the school and, in an angry mood, dashed for one of his cutlasses and marched to the place.

On arrival he overheard the two in one of the classrooms and when he looked through a window, he saw them copulating but thought the man was on top of the woman. He then charged into the dark classroom and struck but he nearly killed his wife instead.

According to Mr. Asiedu, the matter was reported to the Antoakrom Police who picked Addo but opinion leaders pleaded for an amicable settlement at home. The wife who received several cutlass wounds on her back and head had been discharged from the St. Martins Hospital at Agroyesum.

The elders of the town are now trying to resolve the matter between Addo and his wife as the farmer wants a divorce.
