With respect to the "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy, it presents opportunities for addressing the ignorance about our constitution and the religion of Al-Islam. It's revealing to see how so many people would be that gullible enough to think that 19 or so criminals who happened to call themselves Muslims, although their actions were the anti-thesis of what the Quran teaches, would characterize 1.3 billion people who believe in Al-Islam in the same breath as those criminals. When comparing similar atrocities, e.g., Hitler and Mussolini, and their respective regimes, at least many more thousand than those few 19 or so criminals, did not cause others to condemn all Christians even though they claimed to be Christians of some sort or another, not to mention the actions of the Ku Klux Klan and other extremists groups. Also, our constitution has as one of its fundamental principles "freedom of religion" i.e., people are free to practice or not whatever they believe without any interference from anyone including the government.
It should be, but isn't, obv...ious that these flames are being fanned by political opportunists for political gain to divert people away from the substantive issues facing our country, e.g., poor education, poor health, poor job opportunities, deteriorating infrastructures (water, sewer, roads, cable and communication systems), a break down in social institutions, e.g. family and morality and other issues to numerous to mention, and to exploit peoples fears and ignorance for their own personal gain.

The issue about the building of a mosque at Ground Zero is a very touchy subject.

constitution has as one of its fundamental principles "freedom of religion

This is not the issue here.Like you rightfully stated, Moslems have every right to worship or practice their religion. However, the bone of contention is the location of the said mosque considering the dastardly act on 9/11 and the perpetrators cum the indelible mark left on the minds of the greaving families who lost loved ones.
The question is, couldn't they have chosen any other location ?

I will side with you over the politicians who see an opportunity to milk the issue to their advantage instead of focusing on the pertinent matters plaguing the nation.

The FBI is investigation the purchase of the building located at 45-45 Park Place, where the moslems are currenting using as a place of worship. Allegedly, the owner of the building who was then a waiter bought the property and paid in cash to the tune of $4.8mil of which the feds believe to have been financed by "suspicious" persons.

How did this guy come buy that amount of money and why pay cash ? He was shown on the 10pm news avoiding questions from the reporters.

There is nothing more sinister in outlook than retributive justice. I wouldn't be surprised if the building were blasted into smithereens upon launch. Freedom of religion should be respected but in exercising that right or entitlement the sensitivities of others shouldn't be downplayed. This is clearly a provocation, considering that they could have chosen a different location inorder not to upset the bereaved families of the 9/11 attacks.

My fear is this, should this mosque be built there is a likelihood of a terror cell springing up from within then what ?
Out of the thousand and 1 locations in the city why 45 Park Place ?
