The Takoradi District Police Command has apprehended a man who is selling fake drugs and Burges Olive Oil to unsuspecting members of the public.

When the contents of the capsule with the name Toppy Gona and Toppy Kooko Capsules were emptied, they turned out to be dark sand and sawdust.

The suspect, Daniel Taku, was said to have used empty bottles of mini Burges olive oil and refilled them with unknown mixture of oil and widely distributed them in the region.

The police team, led by the District Commander, DSP Della K. Dzansi, said the suspect had been arrested before and granted bail but he jumped bail and he and his surety could not be traced.

He said after painstaking investigations the police managed to locate some of the fake products in a shop and the suspect was identified as the supplier.

For his part, the Regional Director of the Food and Drugs Board, Mr Solomon Agampim, said there was no such drug on the list of his outfit at the Head Office in Accra.

He said the content was fake and could best be described as sand and sawdust and warned people who bought drugs on buses and chemical shops and pharmacies to be careful.

The police said investigations were currently ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.
