A 60-year-old driver who unleashed his libido on an 11-year-old girl has been jailed seven years in hard labour by the Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ presided over by Mrs. Anandah Aikins. The convict, Kpakpo Allotey, pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted on his own plea.

He said he had three children but none of them lived with him and that his wife left him almost two years ago.

The convict, according to the court, gave the victim GH¢2 after the wicked act, telling her not tell anyone about it, or else she would die. The victim, out of fear, kept the affair a secret until the duo was caught by a tenant.

He begged for mercy, adding that he did not know what came over him.
The judge, in passing judgment, considered the convict’s age and the fact that he was a first time offender.

Presenting the facts according to the prosecution, Chief Inspector Evelyn Susuawu told the court that the convict saw the victim in May, 2011 and proposed love to the 11-year-old.

She noted that on June 10, 2011 at about 7.00pm, the convict saw the victim again and invited her to his house which happened to be very close to the victim’s residence. The victim followed the convict to his room where he asked her to undress, but she refused.

The prosecutor further added that the convict, who was already in the mood for sex and could not afford to waste time, got up and quickly undressed the victim and forcibly had sex with her. The convict, after satisfying himself, gave her GH¢2 and threatened her not to inform anyone about her ordeal, or else she would die.

The victim, the prosecutor said, out of fear, kept her ordeal to herself and kept on visiting the convict secretly at night for sex.
This practice, the prosecutor said, continued till Thursday June 23, 2011 when a tenant saw the victim at about 4:30pm coming out of the convict’s house, through the window and reported the incident to the victim’s parents.

The convict was arrested and after police investigations, he was put before court.
