The fact-finding committee established by the University of Ghana (UG) to investigate the case of molestation of an alleged thief by students of the University at the Mensah-Sarbah Hall, has completed its work.

The committee, in its report to the Dean of students and Vice
Chancellor of the University, has identified some students, who were
present during the molestation as seen in the video clips produced and
also from credible eye-witness account.

A statement signed by Mr Joseph Maafo Budu, Registrar of the
University, copied GNA on Wednesday in Accra, said the Vice Chancellor
in his capacity as the chief disciplinary officer of the educational
institution, has referred the case against the students to the
disciplinary Committee for Students.

It said: “those persons were invited to meet with the
disciplinary committee as per a writ of summon issued on Wednesday,
13, April 2011.”

The statement announced that without any prejudice to the
provision of the University’s statutes, the list of persons duly
identified in the report has been handed over to the Ghana Police
Service for its own investigations.

It said the management of the University would like to assure the
University community and the general public that it was doing
everything possible to bring to book and sanction as appropriate all
involved in the despicable act seen in the video.

ah chaps paa ...... the girl stealing something is a behaviour fueled by some belief/definition/concept that she has come to believe in....... help the girl by assisting the girl in exploring the root of her behaviour is an efficient way to progress IMO ...... fingering the girl and doing it in the manner presented in the video is shameless, despicable and inhumane ... makes the people who did that to her worst .... the girl's body is not the root of her behaviour ..... what will fingering the girl do???? ...... i can only imagine the layers upon layers of emotional trauma that those shameless people have imbedded into the girl's psyche without doing anything efficient to help assist the girl in dealing with the root of her stealing behaviour ....

burning thieves in broad daylight is inhumane ....... it depends on what we really want as a society ......
if it is to reduce murder and crime then clearly, the jailing and killing of murderers is not reducing murders ..... another approach is needed which we society as a whole must come up with ....

Are you saying getting groped and sexually violated is a consequence for stealing ? Aren't murderers imprisoned for their crimes when found guilty by the court of law ? Was the alleged thief given due process ? What right has the assailants to subject her to such a repulsive act ?

Although a thief, she still has rights as any human being.
