The Peace Pledge By The NPP Presidential Candidate At The High Level Meeting On 12th November 2012

On Tuesday 27th November 2012, a Peace Pledge was signed by the Presidential Candidates of the NDC,PNC, NPP, CPP, GCPP,PPP, and some Independent Candidates at the Great Hall of Kwame Nkurumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).Before appending his signature to the Peace Pledge on behalf of the NPP and himself, this was what Nana Akuffo Addo pledged to Ghanaians:
I, LIKE the vast majority of the Ghanaian people believe in democracy as the best system of government under which this nation, under God, should be developed. I have fought and stood shoulder to shoulder with the people of Ghana in advancing the cause of democracy. I want to be the President of a united country, that is at peace with it self. The New Patriotic Party has spent a lot of time and energy to fashion out a programme that we believe can lead to a rapid development of Ghana. We want to win a free and fair election to gain a true mandate from the people of Ghana to implement our programme. We will need the support and energies of all citizens to govern if God willing, we are giving the mandate on December 7. I believe that the peace that we all seek and pray for in our country can only be guaranteed if every sector plays its part in delivering a free and fair election- the Political Parties, Electoral Commissions, the Government, the Security Agencies and the Citizens as a whole. I can speak for the NPP and state without any equivocation that we will not DO ANYTHING TO ENDANGER THE PEACE IN ANYWAY DURING THIS ELECTIONS. It is our interest that the elections come off peacefully and the outcome is credible.
We have a Reasonable confidence In the systems that have been set up by the Electoral Commission, and urge the commissions officials to be UNBAISED and PROFFESIONAL IN THEIR WORK. I believe the reason the atmosphere still seems CLOUDED WITH ANXIETY and there are increasingly loud calls for peace is because the government had not tried to build any confidence measures to assure the citizens that the Security Agencies have a free hand to their work in an impartial manner. The rapid apprehension and prosecution of members of the ruling party who have been responsible for the recent violence against members of the NPP in Asutifi South a Constituency represented in Parliament by a Cabinet Minister will be one such measure. Another will be an immediate impartial investigation into the disturbing contents of the now infamous Yaw Boateng Gyan tape which the National Organizer of the NDC has accepted as genuine together with the immediate publication of the results of the inquiry. People do not feel that the Security Agencies are PARTY COLOUR BLIND IN performing their duties.
This fuels Rumors and Generates Anxiety. The President has a responsibility to move beyond the Rhetoric of CALLING FOR PEACE and demonstrate a Commitment to ensuring the State institutions discharge their duties professionally and with integrity. We on our part have no hesitation in SIGNING UP a Commitment to Peace .I pledge on behalf OF THE NPP AND MY OWN BEHALF THAT WE SHALL ACCEPT THE VERDICT OF THE PEOPLE AS WE DID IN 2008,and we pray that Ghana emerges as a shining example of a Peaceful Democratic Nation. I thank Otumfuo. the Asantehene, the National Peace Council, and the IDEG for the important initiative of this platform.
God bless us all and God bless Ghana. AFTER THAT INSINCERE SPEECH BY NANA AKUFFO ADDO, THE TRIBAL WAR LORD ON WAR PATH,HE THEN APPENDED HIS SIGNATURE TO THE PEACE PLEDGE AS WELL AS THE REMAINING PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES.
THAT WAS THE KUMEPREKO MAN
Well, dear reader, this writer was right inside the Great Hall of KNUST that fateful Tuesday and was privileged to get a copy of NANA AKUFFO ADDO’S SPEECH AS PUBLISHED ABOVE. However, on December 7 2012, the Security Agencies ensured that NOT A SINGLE BALLOT BOX WAS SNATCHED NATION WIDE. They also ensured that both REGISTERED and UNREGISTERED Motor Bikes were packed Nationwide. The elections were extended to December 8 2012 because thousands of Ghanaians could not cast their votes because of the BREAKDOWN OF THE BIOMETRIC MACHINES. Voting ended peacefully and ALL THE PRIVATE RADIO STATIONS AND THE PRINT MEDIA started collecting the Provisional Results as well as the Confirmed Results. The Leadership of the NPP were also busy compiling their own results and gave their Presidential Candidate over 56% of the total votes cast with President Mahama getting away with only 39% or is it 41% of the total votes cast as alleged by the NPP . The Electoral Commissioner was stopped by a letter signed by the NPP National Chairman from announcing the winner of the 2012 elections. This was done after the NPP had earlier asked their innocent supporters to put on AN ALL WHITE ATTIRE, and go to Church, to thank God for making NPP the Winner of the 2012 elections. Dr Afari Gyan flatly refused to obey the instructions of the NPP and declared President Mahama as the Winner of the 2012 elections and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE IN GHANA with 2 members of the NDC been stabbed to death, before the NPP proceeded to the Supreme Court with 2 Articulators full of Pink Sheets after engaging the services at a HUGE LAWYER called Mr Philip Addison who quoted a REPEALED LAW at the Supreme Court to prove his case, but Mr Tsatsu Tsikata quickly rose on his feet at the Court and reminded Mr Addison that he was quoting a repealed law. You see, Elections are considered Free and Fair ONLY WHEN THE NPP WINS ISN’T IT Nana Akuffo Addo? It is dangerous to chase a coward too far, the NPP must take note of this. Is anybody listening? I am done but I will be back when the need arise. I am done. “ Jaanbie Iwaii” Aluta Continua!
