Former National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has threatened to lead a mass demonstration in the country if utility tariffs are increased above 100 percent.

His warning comes after the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC) says consumers could be paying up to 150 % for water and electricity tariffs.

The Director of Public Affairs at the PURC, Nana Yaa Gyantuah who confirmed this to Joy News disclosed that tariffs "are definitely going up".

But Anthony Karbo on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday expressed grave displeasure about the possible increment.

“We will put the masses of this country out there because of this matter” he stressed.

The NPP man said the utility service providers do not deserve any adjustments for the poor service over the years.

He added that Ghanaians cannot pay for the inefficiencies of the Mahama-led administration which he claims has failed to salvage the country’s collapsed economy.

Anthony Karbo described as worrying how Ghana’s debt under President John Mahama is skyrocketing, revenue agencies not meeting their target and taxes being imposed on Ghanaians “at a time oil and gold prices are high under this administration and yet there is nothing to show”.
