Vice President, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur says he was expecting a 9-0 verdict in the Presidential Election Petition dismissed by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Thursday August 29 ruled that President John Mahama was validly elected in the 2012 presidential elections.

The petitioners led by New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo and two others challenging the legitimacy of the President accepted the ruling in good faith and noted that they won’t seek a review.

Addressing the media shortly after the ruling, vice president, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur said he expected the Supreme Court to dismiss all the pleadings of the petitioners.

He contended that the petitioners had a "weak" case but with a good communications team managed to create the impression that it was a strong case.

"I have never doubted that this will be the outcome. Am surprised that it wasn’t 9-0 9-0 throughout. NPP had a weak case; they should not have gone to court" he stressed.

Conceding that the election petition has affected government business, Amissah-Arthur said "there is now certainty so we will work for economic stability and growth".
