Former Real Madrid and Juventus man Zinedine Zidane has had one of his last acts on a football field immortalised in stone.
Zidane was infamously sent off in the 2006 World Cup final, his last game for France, for head-butting Italy's Marco Materazzi in the chest.

It meant one of the most gifted footballers in French history was unable to take a penalty in the shoot-out, which Italy went on to win 5-3 to claim their fourth World Cup title.

Zidane, who had planned to retire after the World Cup, later apologised and said he was responding to repeated insults from Materazzi.

Algerian-born artist Adel Abdessemed designed the five-metre bronze statue which is on display in front of the Centre Pompidou modern art museum in Paris.
