Black Stars captain John Mensah could turn to Blackburn Rovers in a bid to revive his club career after it was reported Tuesday that West Ham manager, Sam Allardyce had decided against signing the central midfielder who was on trials with the London club.

Allardyce had been running the rule over the trio of Mensah, Mikael Silvestre and Anthony Vanden Borre, as he looks to bolster the Hammmers’ defensive options outside the transfer window.

“They have been training with us, but no decision has been taken if we would sign them or not,” Allardyce told the club’s official website.

Mensah, who played for English Premiership side Sunderland two seasons ago on loan, is keen to put his injury problems behind him, after he was released by Lyon this summer.

Mensah, 29, played 34 times for the Black Cats during two season-long loan spells at the Stadium of Light, but they opted against signing him permanently despite some impressive displays due to their concerns about his fitness.

The Ghanaian though has also attracted interest from Rovers and Hull City in the English Championship, no official approach has been made.

He had been linked with moves to Turkey, Scotland and Israel prior to his trials with West Ham.
