Back in August, the United Arab Emirates [U.A.E.] threatened to ban BlackBerry services on October 11 because Waterloo, Ontario-based Research In Motion [RIM] refused to allow the government to access the data of BlackBerry Smartphones users in the country. The BlackBerry ban was said to affect both tourist and citizens alike.

With only a few days before the ban was to go in effect, both RIM and the United Arab Emirate government have reportedly reached an agreement. The United Arab Emirates Telecommunications Regulatory Authority indicated today that RIM and its BlackBerry Smartphones are now “compliant with the U.A.E.’s telecommunications regulatory framework.” The regulator went on to say that BlackBerry Smartphones in the country will continue to work normally on Monday.
