Striker Asamoah Gyan will be given a run out when Ghana plays South African topflight side Platinum Stars in a pre- 2012 Nations Cup friendly on Wednesday.

It will be the final warm-up game for the Black Stars before the team emplanes to Gabon ahead of their group opener against Botswana on January 24.

Gyan, 26, has made tremendous progress with treatment of a hamstring injury which was diagnosed to keep him out for three to four weeks.

However great work by the team's medical team aided by Serbian specialist Mariana Kovacevic has seen the on-loan striker at UAE club Al Ain make a quicker than expected return to full training and is now in contention to play on Wednesday.

'It is nothing new that Gyan is a very important player for us. We will wait for him to come back soon. I am very happy that he took part in the training session on Saturday. I hope that when we play against Platinum Stars he plays the full match,' Ghana coach Goran Stevanoic said.

Gyan's timely return serves a massive boost to the Black Stars in its aim to win its first African title in 30 years in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
