Richard Osei, a 20-year-old galamsey operator, has been remanded by a Tarkwa Circuit Court into the Tarkwa juvenile cell for stealing GH¢6,900 and one hundred dollars.

He pleaded guilty and will re-appear before court on January 24.

Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainant Victor Gadri is a businessman who lives at Dunkwa On-Offin and the accused hails from Ankobra near Prestea.

Inspector Amponsah said on December 11, the complainant visited his family in Prestea and lodged at Hanpet hotel in the same vicinity.

He said before he returned to bed on that day, the complainant who had then packed his car in the premises of the said hotel had left a sum of GH¢6,900 and a one hundred dollar note in the instrument panel of his vehicle.

He said in the course of investigation, the accused was apprehended upon a tip-off that he was seen loitering around the hotel during the night of December 11.

The Prosecutor said when Richard Osei was questioned he admitted the offense and a sum of GH¢ 6,100 and the one hundred dollars was retrieved whiles he claimed he used part of the money to buy roofing sheets
