A source close to the winner of the 2011 Club Miss Tourism, Priscilla Asare, has told Myjoyonline.com that, almost a month after she was crowned the winner of the pageant, she is yet to be presented with the car that she won.

The source said the situation has become so unpleasant that attempts to get organisers to handover the car to the beauty queen have proven futile.

The source disclosed that the winner of the pageant was promised an undisclosed monthly cash allowance, hampers from sponsors, beauty treatment from Darling Hair products and most importantly, a Hyundai Atoz.

Priscilla, according the source, is only enjoying the weekly beauty treatment from Darling Hair products, alleging there are plans to deny her of the car. She is yet to receive the hampers from sponsors.

The car, which symbolises and provides means of transport to the queen, which was parked outside the National Theatre on Saturday 17th September, the night of the crowing of this year’s winner was not presented to Priscilla after the event.

Ironically, Priscilla, the source explained, only gets to use the chauffeur-driven car when she has to attend to some official duties. Sometimes she attends these duties in a taxi, the source indicated, adding the same was the situation with last year’s winner.

Asked whether Priscilla and the nine contestants were not given contracts stipulating the prizes and whether a car will be awarded to the winner before the finale, the source said Priscilla was not given a contract before the finale. She was however given a contract two weeks ago.

When Myjoyonline.com contacted Priscilla, she revealed that, “I am not driving the Miss Tourism car. The car has not been given to me.” She however refrained from making further comments on the matter.

Mr Hammond Brew, a member of the organisers of the pageant told Myjoyonline.com that per the contract of the pageant, Priscilla will use the car for official purposes for now and it will be handed over to her fully upon completion of her tenure as Miss Tourism.

“She is supposed to be given the car as ‘ex-gracia’ which means as at the time she will be leaving, she will be given the car. Upon her completion of her term as Miss Tourism, she will be given the car as end of service award.”

According to him, this information was adequately communicated to all the finalists before the finale. Explaining further that as they’ve done over the past year, the winner will have a driver assigned to her who will drive her to official events until her term is over and the car will then be handed over to her.

Mr Hammond said the same rule applied to last year’s winner, Charlotte Sika Quagurine, whose car was officially handed over to her after the crowning of this year’s winner.

He however added that, they were not able to give a written contract to the winner on time and have therefore not finalised agreements with Priscilla because she said she was consulting her lawyer.

The organiser also noted that preparations are being made to fly her to the UK, Germany and Zimbabwe as part of her prize.
